The free-cutting steel 11SMn30+C / 9SMn28k is very well suited for machining (short chips) due to its alloying components sulphur and phosphorus, and is preferably processed on automated machines for series production. The 11SMn30+C / 9SMn28k is not weldable. It is supplied bright with the tolerance h9 and is usually used for the production of screws, pistons or shafts. Our round steel 11SMn30+C / 9SMn28k has the tolerance h9 and is bright drawn or peeled. The hexagonal version is bright drawn with tolerance h11. Through our trading partners, we also supply free-cutting steel in flat and square, bright drawn or milled surfaces.
The free-cutting steel 11SMnPb30+C / 9SMnPb28k has, in addition to its alloying components sulphur and phosphorus, also a lead content, which makes it even more suitable for machining than the free-cutting steel without lead addition (even shorter chips, very high cutting speeds). It is preferably processed on automated machines for series production. The 11SMnPb30+C / 9SMnPb28k is not weldable. Because of the lead content and the vapours released during processing, special precautions must be taken (extraction). It is supplied in bright finish with tolerance h9 and is usually used for the production of screws, pistons or shafts. Our round steel 11SMnPb30+C / 9SMnPb28k has the tolerance h9 and is bright drawn or peeled. The hexagonal variant is bright drawn with tolerance h11.
